1964 - Italy: American soul, R&B, pop and gospel singer, songwriter ARETHA FRANKLIN, 22 (Aretha Louise Franklin, born Memphis, Tennessee, March 25, 1942). One of the best-selling musical artists of all time. At 14, 1956, recorded singing gospel at Detroit's New Bethel Baptist Church, where her father, was minister. At 18 In 1960, embarked on a secular career, for Columbia Records. 1967 joined Atlantic, and became a huge commercial success with songs 'Respect' and acclaimed albums: I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You (1967), Lady Soul (1968), Young, Gifted and Black (1972).
